MAN'S BEST FRIEND COLLECTION

Perhaps the most royal of breeds, the English Toy Spaniel, known also as the King Charles Spaniel, was a favorite of both Mary Queen of Scots and Charles II of England.   At Mary's beheading, "one of the executioners espied her little dog which has crept under her clothes which could not be gotten forth but by force"; and Charles was so enamored with the breed that Samuel Pepys noted "the silliness of the King playing with his dog all the while and not minding his business."
