Jack Russell Terrier

One of the Church of England's hunting parsons, the Reverend John Russell of Devon, established the breed in the early nineteenth century, and also gave it his name.   The Reverend wanted to develop a strong willed strain of working Terrier which could run with the hounds.   Character has always been the most important ingredient of the breed.
